This very dramatic, winter weight shawl is a riot of color and texture, which is exactly what I was going for! I knit it with two strands of constantly changing yarns- one always black, but in different weights and textures, and the other a rainbow of pretty much every color yarn I could find! I made myself a shawl like this last winter, and I absolutely love it! It's like wearing a soft, warm, cozy, colorful hug.

I call this multi yarn style of knitting “graffiti” because it reminds me of a wall I saw in Berkeley, which was covered with dozens of layers of stapled on, and ripped off posters, and spray paint, which gave it a many colored, shaggy look. Kind of like this shawl!

Fibers used are predominately nylon and acrylic, with my favorite recycled sari silk yarn, and sari silk ribbon yarn, and some cotton ribbon yarns, recycled from old tee shirts. I knit it on the diagonal, which really shows off the 8 inch fringe on each end. The shawl is 20 inches wide, and a full 9 feet long from point to point. If you're tall or plus sized, there's plenty of shawl here for you to wrap up in! Hand wash in cool water with a mild soap, roll up in a towel to absorb the water, and then dry flat.
