I think the photos speak for themselves when it comes to describing this incredible, quintessential 50's gown by Cahill Ltd. of Beverly Hills. William Cahill's gowns were one of those to-die-for labels in the day, and his creations are classic and timeless.

All the same, they can't be mistaken for a gown made today! The quality, attention to detail and specific romance of the 1950's makes these dresses simply shine. This DREAM dress is no exception - with five full layers of skirting and stunning lace work, it is truly spectacular.

This is a ballerina length gown, floating just a hair above the floor with no train. It features five - yes FIVE - amazingly full layers of skirt - acetate satin, two layers of a stretchy, full netting gathered into the waistband with hundred of tiny pinch pleats, and two layers of this crisp, floating dream-like tulle. The color is between an ivory and white - the lining is ivory, the tulles and laces are white.

The bodice features tiny off-the shoulder cap sleeves. The folding bust line has an alluring v created with crisply knife-pleated tulle. Scalloped lace decks the bodice and sleeves. The same lace is applied to each side of the outer layer of tulle on the skirt, cut along the embroidered pattern and stitched with a perfect edge. This is an almost pannier like effect, without adding extra dimension.

The gown is, quite simple, incredibly sweet and elegant at the same time. Not photographed (because I simply forgot) but included at the gauntlet sleeves worn on the lower arm. Cahill gowns regularly sold for $300-$700 in their day, the equivalent of thousands of dollars today. This dream of a dress was loved, stored and is ready to help you shine on your special day.

This gown has been shown with a single hoop skirt, but can absolutely been worn without any additional volume at all. It zips up the back with a sturdy metal zipper.

Item Measurements:

Bust: 35"
Waist: 25"
Hips: Free
Length: 60"

Condition:

This dress is in fantastic condition. I can find no stains, strains or other issues to the exterior of the gown. The two interior layers of net do have some snags and splits near the hem, including a 5" split where I suspect she caught her heel. It is clean with no spots, underarm discoloration, or breaks in the two outer tulle layers or lace. It displays perfectly. A stunning, special designer gown for your wedding day.

Any accessories shown, including jewelry, belts and crinolines, are shown for inspiration only, and not included unless otherwise stated in the listing.
