I can't even begin to say how much attention my Birch purses have been getting!

Made entirely out of upcycled\/recycled Birch Bark that I've reclaimed from the woods behind my house (no trees have been cut for this - simply pieces of birch that were left behind by loggers). The purse measures approximately 7" long, and about 4" in diameter. The end pieces are made of 1\/2" thick Pine wood and the inside is lined with a nice burgundy fabric, with a felt liner underneath to give it more cushion.

The handle is also very unique - made from a branch that I found in the woods that had been gnawed by beavers. You can actually see the teeth marks! The strap is approx. 6.5" long, and is made of grosgrain ribbon, so it's soft and will sit flat when not in use. There are also 4 small purse "feet" at the bottom to protect the base and keep it from rolling around too much.

The bark has not been finished or varnished in any way - it's left in it's most natural state. Although it's lightweight (weighs only 10 oz!), the bark is very thick and sturdy and will hold your everyday items (wallet, coin purse, cell phone, lipstick, etc...) very safely. Black screws, hinges, and an antique-looking clasp gives the handbag a more natural, rustic look.

My purses are now signed and dated (year created) on the inside, at the request of my buyers. Thank You! :)

** A one of a kind purse that will stand out in a crowd and have all your friends talking and turning green with envy! **

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Is it heavy?
A: NO! It weighs less than 1 POUND! I can hold it by the handle with just one finger.

Q: Can you make a Jewelry Box out of it instead?
A: No. Because it's so light, as soon as you'd open the lid, it would topple backwards. Not very practical as a box, unfortunately.

Q: Will it snag my clothing?
A: Birch Bark is pretty soft to the touch, so it won't ruin your clothes... obviously, I wouldn't purposefully run the purse up and down your nylon stockings, but with general use, there is no problem at all with this.

Q: Is it practical?
A: YES! I use mine every single day, and have for over a year now. It's very sturdy - but again, it *is* handmade, so I wouldn't just go and throw it in the backseat of my car, either. :)

-- "What an incredible work of art that I get to carry around with me for all to see!"

-- "It is sooo pretty! I love all the detail you put into it. The hardware tones are perfect and i love the look of the little black screws, the scalloped hinges, oh, and the ribbon! You've turned a rough piece of bark into a very pretty oxymoron. It's great! Thank you :)!"
