This original, limited edition of 30, lino block printed tiger in black block printing ink on handmade Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper with deckle edge, would make a great gift for people born in Tiger years or lovers of great cats. The dimensions of the print are 7.5" (19 cm) wide by 12.5" (31.8 cm) tall. The Tiger is associated with good fortune, power and royalty, and is the third animal in the Chinese Zodiac. Tiger is the eastern king of the beasts.

Perhaps it is because my 'History of China' uses the character 'hu' for tiger as an example of how characters evolved from pictograms, but to me it seems like the character is just a stylized drawing of the tiger; the tail of the tiger mirrors that of the character.

Tiger people are supposed to be natural born leaders. Those born after Chinese New Year (or early in subsequent years) in the years 1902, 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010 or 2022 are (or will be) born in the Year of the Tiger.

The other animals in the Chinese zodiac are all here:
