The 4th animal in the Chinese zodiac is the rabbit, or hare. This is an original hand-carved linoleum block print showing the rabbit and the Chinese characters tu-z which he appears to observe. In the West we speak of the man in the moon. In Chinese tradition it is a rabbit, so this rabbit is bathed in moonlight.

The rabbit is printed in environmentally-friendly water-based block-printing ink on handmade Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper in an edition of 30 prints. The sheets are 6 " (15.2 cm) wide by 12.5" (31.8 cm) tall.

Those born after Chinese New Year (or early in subsequent years) in the years 1903, 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011 are (or will be) born in the Year of the Rabbit. This print would make a lovely gift for lovers of rabbits or those born in the Year of the Rabbit.

The other animals in the Chinese zodiac are all here:

The final photo shows how I've framed my own copy of this print in a vintage frame. The frame is not included with this listing.
