I love beets. Beets in salad, beet soup, beet risotto, beet jelly, pickled beets, roasted beets...you get the idea. Their rough exterior gives way to the most beautiful, deep red color and earthy veggie flavor imaginable. And the greens...don't even get me started on beet greens. YUM!

So, with beets in abundance at the local farmers market, it seemed like a great idea to make some beet necklaces. Perhaps someone else out there loves beets as much as I do (i.e. enough to wear one around your neck).

This necklace was handmade from scratch using sterling silver sheet metal. I soldered the form together and filled it with colored epoxy resin. The process takes awhile, but it's worth it in the end.

Includes a 16" chain with a sterling lobster clasp and a gift box.

* By the way, some people have told me this looks like a radish but trust me, IT'S A BEET. Radish necklaces also available.
_ _ _

“The beet is the most intense of vegetables. The radish, admittedly, is the more feverish, but the fire of the radish is a cold fire, the fire of discontent not passion. Tomatoes are lusty enough, yet there runs through tomatoes an undercurrent of frivolity. Beets are deadly serious.” -Tom Robbins, Jitterbug Perfume
