These stunningly elegant mixed metal fixed earwire earrings are the perfect accompaniment to any occasion with their artful blend line and space. Measuring approximately 1.7 inches, these earrings feature fixed ear wires, which means they do not "dangle" as well as my makers mark, shown in picture number 2.

Mokume Gane means ‘wood grain metal’ in Japanese. It is the ancient art of fusing many layers of different metals and then patterning these layers to create highly intricate surface embellishment. Originally invented to decorate the handles of folded steel swords, today modern metalsmiths create this wonderful material for personal adornments. The entire process takes about 36 hours to result in a usable material, but the pattern variations between copper, brass, silver, various platinum alloys, and all the colors of gold, are simply amazing. I personally created the patterned metal you see in this piece, and due to the extremely time intensive nature of creating mokume, these earrings are one of a kind! I have coated the mokume portion of these earrings in a protective laquer, however all metals will patina over time.
