Stunning bias cut long length dress made of a drapey black rayon with a gold metallic stripe. The neckline features a fold-down pleated ruffle around the neck accented by a sewn-on bow tie in the front and a keyhole tie closure in the back. The dress has lovely puffed sleeves, typical of Depression-era fashion, with tie sleeves and and very full gathering at the bottom of the sleeve for extra fullness.

The bodice has a central triangular inset where the bias-cut skirt is attached. The waist is fitted and has a matching 1.5" belt with a gold scalloped Deco style clasp. There are loops at the waist to secure the belt and three small snaps in the side seam. The long, flared bias-cut skirt is so elegant and lovely as you can see by the diagonal stripe across the front of the skirt.

This gown is in overall good condition, but it is about 80 years old so it does have some signs of wear. There are about 20-25 pin size holes throughout the dress, mainly in the skirt. I feel the dress is wearable with a black slip as these are tiny holes. Also, the fabric appears bronzed in some of the areas of the gold stripe, particularly under the arms and in one area in the lower skirt. It seems that where the fabric was wet in the past, the metallic thread was discolored to bronze. Again, it's not terribly noticeable. This dress has so many wonderful aspects of typical 1930s fashion design and it's unusual to find such an example. Given the age of the fabric, I did not want to try to restore the areas with darker striping.
