Kudzu and Honeysuckle, two "Asian-invasion" plants that took over the South and became a cultural staples to the people there.

During the World's Fair of 1876 in Philadelphia, kudzu was introduced to America from Japan as a plant that could help stop the erosion or soil. Kudzu is now known as "the vine that ate the South." Growing up to a foot a day, and resistant to all deterrents, both natural and chemical, it has covered most of the Southeastern United States.

Honeysuckle, also from Japan, is another vine than went quite rampant once it touched the sweet soil and warm humid climate of the South. It doesn't grow quite as voraciously, but seems equally immune to just about any attempts to keep it back. It's a favorite of children all over the South, as they love to suck the sweet honeyed nectar from the base of the delicate flowers.

This is a print of my original watercolor painting entitled "Kudzu and Honeysuckle" that depicts the entwining of the two vines, both sporting their distinctive blooms, and a little simple calligraphy stating "Kudzu and Honeysuckle"

This print is 8.25 x 11.5 inches on 80lb paper in a matte finish.
