Here is just the most most beautiful antique Yellow Latticinio Core you could lay your eyes on! It's a one of a kind rarity, one of my all time marble favorites, and so huge and so well built that it is a true marvel to hold and behold. It's nearly a perfect beautiful original Mint(9.5) and it's BIG(Over one and three quarters of an inch across)! This is a Single Gathered(one pontil, very old) German Yellow Latticinio Core, with unbelievable outer subsurface bands of transparent cobalt blue, transparent deep purple, and milk white, with wide purple and blue bands sandwiching two white strands in each of the four. There are also three narrow strips of clear glass, perfectly and evenly spaced between strands, giving each band the pattern: Fat purple/thin clear/thin white/thin clear/thin white/thin clear/fat blue. Strand for strand, I've never held a better balanced marble as far as maintaining perfect spacing and evenness of these outer bands, all the way around, and through the dramatic twist of over 360 degrees. The yellow latticinio net is composed of ten thick deep ochre/yellow strands, and shares the deep twist of the outers, thick stranded and well centered. In the center is the large and wispy white, but well defined, twisting ghost core. This marble is very old, maybe 1880's, and collectors will recognize this particular color combination. All four colors are true to a certain Lauscha, Germany region color palate that we find occasionally, but we most often see them around 7/8"-1 1/8", both in white and yellow latticinios. Additionally, it is the older single gathered, or punty variety, the oldest procedure for making a latticinio net, with a single faceted and finely ground original pontil. The top has some slight /microscopic cold rolling, as is to be expected, but the overall roundness and smoothness is wonderful. There is one pinprick, looks to be as made but I'm uncertain so we'll "count it", and the shallowest of submoons near the top, but it must have been dropped that once or something because there is no way this one's ever been played with. The tiny moon and the pinprick are both hard to find, and it looks basically like it just came from the factory, getting a MINT(9.6) overall grade. I had to choose five pictures out of the 10 or twelve I took, and there is no way to truly do this one justice with five pictures! If you want some additional views, please feel free to request additional pictures! Also, the shipping price is fully insured, thus the $7.50 cost. Thanks for looking, and Happy Marbling! :)
