This lovely frosted gift box contains eight 1.75 inch (48 mm) glass top containers filled with gourmet sea salt blends for you to create rubs, marinades or sauces from. These are all hand-blended in small quantities and contain a ratio of half salt to half spice. You can use the salts straight from the container or put them in your own salt grinder.

The sea salt is from France. The fruit of the ocean, wind and sun, this salt is gathered on French Atlantic salt marshes, simply dried in the sun, then crushed. It is rich in magnesium and calcium.

This kit contains:

:: Asian (sea salt, cinnamon, star anise, fennel seeds, cloves and black pepper)

A slightly sweet, mellow blend that is excellent on chicken or pork, used as a rub or as a marinade when combined with sesame oil and soy sauce.

:: Californian (sea salt, orange peel, coriander seeds, whole black pepper, parsley)

Light citrus notes compliment coriander seeds in this blend. This is fantastic crusted on some broiled or barbecued salmon filets. Add some fresh orange zest for extra zing!

:: Mexican (sea salt, guajillo chilies, cut cilantro, cumin seeds and ground cumin)

A savory blend with a kick! The guajillo chilies, a medium heat, provide intense flavor. Great used as a rub on a sirloin steak grilled on the barbecue, or sprinkled on baked potatoes with sour cream. Add some to your guacamole to make it sing.

:: Italian (oregano, basil, rosemary, marjoram and lemon pepper)

A versatile salt blend that can be used on any meat or fish, delicious especially on tilapia or other firm white fish. Also excellent sprinkled over steamed beans or broccoli.

:: African (sea salt, paprika, awojan seeds, cumin seeds, allspice, coriander, fenugreek, black pepper, chili flakes, cloves)

This is a slightly more mellow version of Ethiopian berbere, the fiery heart of Ethiopian cuisine. It's great added to a dish of EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) to dip french bread into it. Also delicious added to a salad dressing with some honey.

:: French (sea salt, rosemary, quatre poivres, herbes de Provence, mustard seeds )

A good use for this blend is to make a gremolade crust for a rack of lamb or for a lovely roast for a special occasion.

:: Thai (sea salt, crushed chilies, lemongrass, ground ginger, coriander seeds)

A simple yet tasty blend that is delicious when blended into a vinagrette and drizzled over a rib steak salad, or tossed into a coconut chicken curry to kick up the flavor.

:: Indian (sea salt, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, coriander and cumin seeds)

This blend is on fire, literally! Those who love heat will adore this blend, either used on grilled red meats or added to a marinade for chicken.

Each container weighs between 1 to 1.5 ounces (30-45 g).
