This is a great opportunity to own a piece of Peter Todd Mitchell design. Mitchell (1929-1988) studied at the Yale School of Fine Art and became famous for his abstract and realism art. His pieces have been on exhibit at The Smithsonian and auctioned at Christie's. Mitchell was also involved in fabric designs and is still on display at the Dallas Museum of Art.

Wesley Simpson was a textile designer in the 1920s-1940s who commissioned famous artists to produce new fabric designs. His company stopped production in the mid 1940s.
This collaborative silk scarf piece is about 30" x 30". The background color is a very pale pink while the "story" colors are deep pinks and purple. The title of this scarf is written in script and I believe it says either "Orocle" or "Pirocle" (for Oracle or Pirocles perhaps?) The pattern features Greco-Roman male & female figures walking around the center sun, all of them carrying food, water pitchers, one archer is on horseback while one couple walks as they're holding hands. Each corner shows a cherub's face.

This scarf would be a wonderful framed piece.
Designer mark: Printed "Pirocle by Wesley Simpson" and "Peter Todd Mitchell" on the scarf edges, original tag is still attached "Wesley Simpson - Custom Scarf - PURE SILK"

In very good used, vintage condition. The rolled edges are in very good condition, no frays or loose areas. There is a small pin hole in the center of the scarf.
