This is an original watercolor.

This is a 60 x 40 inch watercolor painting. The subject matter is a brilliant sun set (or sunrise) over the ice breaking up on lake Superior. Looking closely in the the blocks of ice you can find images of the cold weather dependent trees, flower, insects, fish, birds, and animals that Wisconsin will lose as the climate warms.

The painting toured in the exhibition "Paradise Lost? Climate Change in the North Woods" in 2008-2009. The exhibition resulted from an artist/scientist collaborative effort to bring attention to the science of climate change through the arts. You can learn about the project here: http://cbe.wisc.edu/K12/paradiselost.html

"Winter's End"
60 x 40 inches
(The work can be made available matted and framed under non-glare plexiglass for an additional $300 plus additional shipping costs).

I have turned the ice part of this painting into a fabric pattern now available here: http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/124820 I have heard some people are buying the fabric to frame it!
