This is a beautiful hand coloured first edition print from Rev. Francis Orpen Morris' A History of British Butterflies. Morris had a reputation as a popular writer on natural history. His first great success was A History of British Birds, which was quickly followed by A Hatural History of the Nest and Eggs of British Birds, and A History of British Butterflies, followed later by A History of British Moths.
Morris became an early advocate for conservation and was instrumental in founding the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

The condition of the print is excellent. The hand colouring vibrant. There is a little creasing to the very edge (right). The paper is cream in colour. This is a medium size print measuring approximately 6" x 10" (15cm x 25cm).

This is an ORIGINAL antique print. A copy of the title page is included in the listing.
