Two versions of a beret using a brushed alpaca yarn.
Both berets are worked in the round, one is stockinette stitch topped with an I-cord knob. The other one is worked in a lace pattern. Experience with working in the round, making an I-cord or following a simple 4 row repeat lace pattern is helpful. Good for the advanced beginner to intermediate knitter. They can be worn in the traditional way or pulled back for a more trendy look.

Both hats can be made out of approximately 330 yards of yarn (3 skeins of the Baby Alpaca Brush) and the body of the hat is worked on size 9 needles.

The yarn used in the pattern is Plymouth Baby Alpaca Brush and has a nice soft feel, but another yarn calling for a size 9 needle with gauge of 14 stitches = 4" could be substituted. Just a little thicker than a worsted weight yarn. You can convo me if you need information on purchasing the yarn.

The pattern includes color photos of the finished projects, easy to follow directions, a list of abbreviations and a stitch glossary explaining the techniques used in the projects.

It will be sent to you as an attachment to an email, please verify your email address.

I've knitted up three of these beautiful berets as gifts for friends, and they love them. Excellent pattern.

This is a gorgeous pattern. I love the wedges of stockinette, and the points on the one side, and just the asymmetry of it. I just finished knitting it in Casablanca (peacock), which has a long color change and worked really well. The pattern is easy to follow - very clear and complete. I found a row counter a very useful companion for knitting this. It knits up quickly, and the pattern of it quickly becomes second nature. Very pleased...

had a very difficult time joining the ends. kitchener stitch was not quite what was needed since the cast on was purl and the end row was knit. or they were both knit. anyway, I fudged through it and the cowl looked great.

I cast on stitches to start knitting this morning. This pattern is exactly what I was looking for. Instructions are well written. Thanks!
