Lily of the valley has been in many myths and urban legends. It is said that the flowers are used as steps for the fairies to help them get to the reeds of which they'd weave their cradles. The flowers also apparently ring whenever the fairies sing. Sometimes they are referred to as fairy bells. One story goes that the lily of the valley loved to hear the Nightingale sing, but because it was so shy, it hid among the reeds until the Nightingale vowed that he would never sing again unless the lily would flower every May.

This bookmark is composed of five small pearls each with a green glass flower cap on the ends. The chain is antiqued bronze, adding a beautiful, natural appearance. Shepherd’s hook is gold-plated.

The adornment hangs down 2 inches (5.08 cm) in length from the end of the hook. The shepherd’s hook measures 5 inches (12.70 cm) in total length.

Have a cherished novel you would like seen brought to life? How about an inspiring myth that has always enchanted you? Or perhaps a favorite spot in the garden you would like to carry with you? I would be very happy to customize a bookmark for your enjoyment.
