"Most people in this world would probably recognize a set of rosary beads, that familiar circlet of beads punctuated with larger beads or with holy medals in a sort of a necklace arrangement, usually with a shorter string of beads attached to it, ending in a cross or crucifix. Nobody has ever been required to have one, but for at least a dozon centuries most people in the Church have owned a rosary in one form or another, just as so many do today. But they don't have them just for ornament, nor do they treasure them because they believe that those beads have any power in and of themselves..."

Exerpt from "ROSARY Mysteries, Meditations and the Telling of the Beads" by Kevin Orlin Johnson, Ph.D.

This rosary is made with Arizona jasper stones separated by silver spacer beads. The Our Father beads are a turquoise bead and the centerpiece is a silverplated copper Madonna and Child. The reverse side of the centerpiece contains a small sample of "terra Jerusalem," soil from the Holy Land. The papal crucifix is 2.25 inches in height. It is modeled after Pope John Paul II's staff and also known as the Pope's Cross. It is made of pewter in Italy.
