Description

"Frosty Winter Morning" – A solitary tree with snow laden branches is silhouetted against a wintery morning sky. The colors of this quilt were inspired by the two fabrics at the bottom of the quilt featuring plants covered with frost. Many other pale and pastel shades of pink, lavender and gray evoke a cold and frosty feeling.

To design the tree, I grafted together photos of several trees in my neighborhood – the trunk from one or two trees, branches from several others. The branches were arranged to form interesting positive and negative shapes - the tree and branches are the positive shapes and the background and sky behind the tree and between the branches are the negative shapes.

This art quilt was machine pieced and free motion quilted on my domestic sewing machine, and is 35" by 47". A sleeve is sewn to the back so the quilt can be hung from a dowel.

This original design is the first in a series of art quilts celebrating the changing seasons of the West Coast of Canada.

This amazing quilt was a remembrance gift for a friend whose beloved dog died. My friend was overjoyed when she received the piece and was so impressed by Terry's superb work and the realistic depiction of her dog. Terry is a dream to work with, and she communicates regularly throughout the quilt creation process.

CUSTOM WORK
I love to make custom quilts!

Are you looking for unique and customized art for yourself or as a special gift? If you have a favorite photo of a family gathering, a loved one, a pet, a cityscape, or country scene - I can make you a custom quilted wall hanging based on your photo.

To see some examples of my custom portrait quilts, click here http://www.etsy.com/shop/TerryAskeArtQuilts?section_id=10266267

This is my standard process for custom work:

• You send me your photo attached to a message, and let me know what size and color palette you would like. If you're not sure, I am happy to make recommendations. (There is no charge for this part of the process.)

• We decide on the complexity of the design, the number of fabrics to be used and the finished size of the quilt. Based on those variables, I give you a price for the finished quilt (in the range of $1.25 to $1.75 per square inch.)

• Once we've agreed on the details, I create a custom listing for you.

• For custom work I require full payment in advance, and the purchase is not refundable.

• Once payment is received, I create the quilt based on our agreement. I will send you progress photos during the construction phase.
