This unknown miner was photographed prior to his shift at the Oliver Twist tunnel in the Alma district in Colorado. He was at the back of a group of miners but I was particularly drawn to him because his expression seemed to convey simultaneously first day on the job excitement and fear. His piercing blue eyes look at the viewer almost pleadingly to talk him into or out of whatever he is about to do. They are the only color in the piece.

The original was purchased by a friend of mine who was compelled to buy it because it is the first picture that her husband took notice of that didn’t actually contain an elk or deer of some kind.

This is a limited edition giclee and it measures 16"x20".

Thanks for looking.
