We were lucky to come across these hand carved wood stamps from the "昭和" "showa period" . The "showa" period is from 1926-1989. This stamp set is chigiri-e style.

Chigiri-e is a technique using coloured paper torn to create images (which often give an effect of water colour). The technique dates from the Heian period of Japanese history when it was often used in conjunction with calligraphy. Hand-made paper is essential for the creation of chigiri-e images.

There are 3 stamps with numbers in a set. If you follow numbers (1, 2 and 3) to stamp, there is a cute girl.

1 - girl
2 - head, arms and legs
3 - hairs and shoes

It has obviously been used but is in excellent condition (it might need a bit of dusting off). It will add a uniqueness to your art or will be a great addition to a collection.
