The tradition of placing a candle in the window goes back to Colonial times in the U.S., and back much further in time for other cultures. In Colonial America it was done to commemorate the King's birthday, a battle victory, a child's birth, or to just plain celebrate, especially at Christmas.
In our present day, it is an unsafe practice to burn candles in the window, and if you live in a 19th century house as I do, there never seems to be an electrical outlet close to the window.
~~~The Solution?~~~ Hand crafted tin window lights with a flameless candle. The candle operates on 2 AA batteries(batteries not included). Simply unscrew the cap on the bottom of the candle, place the batteries in, screw the cap back on, and using the cap as your on and off switch, the candle will light. While giving a soft gentile flickering light similar to a real flame, this one never gets hot, therefore making it safe around children.
The Concord window light is 3 3/8"w x 2"h. The total height with the candle is 8". The candle holder features a hand hammered domed base filled with sand for added stability, and is available in antique tin only.
Thank you,
