Like the first Robin in the Spring, the Pintail Duck also is an early arrival in the NorthEast bringing with them the promise of warm weather.

Here on this deserted pond, the Pintail lazes among the native grasses while a flock passes overhead.

The cat o' nine tails, bare hardwoods and the mixed spruce and pine forest in the background are an ideal setting for this reflective study of one of Springs' harbingers.

This original composition was drawn and hand-burned (not laser burned) onto a specifically chosen wood plaque.

This piece of artwork is finished with two hand-rubbed coats of tung oil and is ready to hang.

Creative time includes idea development, research, wood acquisition and preparation, sketching, woodburning, cleanup, finish application (x2), installing hanger and totals 11 hours.
