In 1916 the Fredericksburg Texas PTA first published a cookbook as a fund raiser. This copy of Fredericksburg Home Kitchen Cook Book is the tenth edition published in 1971. It is in perfectly like-new condition inside and on the spiral-bound hard cover. The only mark in it is an inscription showing that it was a gift in 1971. The recipient didn't cook so her estate sale had some really clean cookbooks. Some of the recipes (Hasenpfeffer, Sauerbraten, Lebkuchen) and most of the contributor's names (Mueller, Luckenbach, Wehmeyer, Habenicht, Krauskopf, Schoenwolf) really show the German heritage of the Texas Hill Country. But there are also plenty of Mexican American recipes like chili and enchiladas plus some just good plain country cooking. Since it's written in the Texas Hill Country there are lots of recipes for venison and other wild game. Great cookbook!
