Description

*** This pattern is in ENGLISH only.

The Dandelion Double Zip Handbag is a smaller sized bag with 2 main zippered compartments and one large open compartment in the middle that closes with a magnetic snap. It has 2 shorter straps and comes with instructions for an optional cross body strap.

In the main compartment, I've included instructions for 4 slip pockets. You can use vinyl for certain design elements of this bag or if you prefer, use fabric for the entire bag.

SUPPLIES:

Fabric:
You will need a total of 1.5 yards cotton fabric separated as follows:
1/2 yard Exterior Main fabric + Lining pockets
1/2 yard main Lining fabric plus strap accents
1/2 yard Exterior Accent fabric + Zippered pocket lining
less than 1/4 yard vinyl for straps and bottom
*** Amounts will vary depending on type of fabric used, directional prints and if you choose to use vinyl for parts of your bag

Interfacing:
3 yards woven fusible interfacing
1/2 yard fusible fleece
Peltex 10.25” W x 4.25” H

Notions and supplies:
(2) 12” zippers (will be cut down)
(1) 18mm magnetic snap
(4) 1” rectangle or O-rings
(4) purse feet (optional)
rivets (optional)
32” piping

OPTIONAL for adustable strap:
(2) 1” swivel clasps
(1) 1” rectangle slide

MEASUREMENTS:

10.5" W x 8" H x 4.5" D

SEWING EXPERIENCE:

This project is intended for sewists with intermediate sewing skills however a confident beginner with a lot of experience making zippered pouches could attempt this pattern. Once your first bag is made, this project could take as little as 4 hours to complete but the first one will take approx. 5-6 hours.

Love, love, love this bag! I've made two so far. Made slight changes since I didn't want the handles, only crossbody strap. Added a slip pocket to the back of one. Everyone wants to know where I got this purse! Great instructions. Just read carefully, as with any purse pattern!
