Description

These pieces of stained glass were taken out of a old church window, and fashioned into this custom design and pattern. That is so special about this piece is the five green diamonds in the piece, that are actually very thick glass that was poured into this shape. Seen in the third picture with the glass laying flat, you can tell the difference in size of the diamonds from the rest of the glass. And that different size gives a very unique look through the light.

The glass was taken out of a much larger church window of a church that was taken down. The glass has been salvaged and rebuilt by us, bring life back into it and bring back the beautiful art of this old glass. The church the windows were taken out of was built in 1888, but the glass itself, it is not known if it was original to the church at that time when it was built. It was recorded that the windows were fixed and "repaired" in the 1940's so they are certainly older than that date. The church itself was taken down and the windows were removed in the late 1980's.

This piece of stained glass is roughly 8 1/2" by 8 1/4". Since it was old glass and difficult to cut because of it. It is not a perfect diamond shape completely because of the differences in size and width with the gap that is created when translating a lead came attached glass to a solder attached glass. The diamonds shaped pieces are an impressive 3/4" thick, gives it the depth and unique color.

In the price is reflected the time and effort required to make the piece and create the custom design. One had to deconstruct the large wood frame the glass was in. Then the process of taking off the old lead came, cleaning the glass, grinding down the glass, re taping the glass with copper tape and soldering it back together again. Along with cutting the pieces of glass in the different pattern and shape.

This was created, and fashioned by myself.
