Description

Rookwood pottery advertising tray with matte blue glaze, dated 1915 (XV in Roman numerals). The front has the insignia for the Western and Southern Life Insurance Company flanked on either side by a wraparound, classical-style wreath of leaves and berries. The back is inscribed "The Western & Southern Life Insurance Company, Cincinnati, OH" and the date inscription is beneath that, directly underneath the Rookwood logo, which is largely obscured by excess glaze.

The tray measures 4.375" (4 3/8") from side to side and has the same dimensions from top to bottom. The piece has no chips or cracks and the small, white circular marks on the underside (visible in photo #2 above close to the felt pads) are stilt pulls that were made during the manufacturing process. In short, the piece is in perfect condition, which is amazing, given that it's now 101 years old.

I'm not sure what the original use for this tray was, but it would make a dandy receptacle for your keys or change or breath mints, whatever you pull out of your pockets at the end of a long day. Make it yours and give your pocket contents a nice home!

Processing time for this item will be brief; I like to get my orders shipped within 48 hours, typically using Priority Shipping via the USPS.

Also, please note that I DO NOT currently ship outside the United States.
