Description

Description

An absolutely exquisite hand painted silk frock from the mid 1950s, made by Pattullo-Jo Copeland. I love having my socks knocked off and the fabric of this dress does just that – a bold watercolor floral print of hot pink explosions (clearly more than just flowers!) coupled with the most delicately painted leaves and smaller blossoms. To top it off, the dress features an artfully asymmetric oversized bow that fastens over one hip. Very jaunty! The dress has short cap sleeves (with gussets), princess seams and bust darts, a drop waist with an arched waist seam, straight skirt and a side slit. The dress closes via a back zipper, and the bow attaches via a snap and trio of hook-and-eye closures; it is fully lined in silk organza.

Measurements (taken flat and to be doubled, except for shoulder and length measurements)

Bust: approx. 19 inches
Waist (taken 8 inches below bust): approx. 15 inches
Hips: approx. 19.5 to 19.75 inches
Length (center back): approx. 38.25 inches (with 2.25 inches allowance)

Condition

The dress is in very good to excellent condition, though note that two of the hooks for attaching the bow are missing; I’ll rifle through my sewing box and see if I have replacements, but, if not, you’ll need to acquire and attach these. In addition, note that the original zipper has been replaced. The dress has been dry cleaned for your convenience.

Buying Vintage

While I take great care to describe the items I sell accurately, please note that all of my items (unless otherwise indicated) have had past lives. As such, some wear consistent with the item’s age should be expected. Any specific issues with the item will be mentioned in the Condition section above.

Shipping

I ship domestically (U.S.) and internationally. Please click on the Shipping & Policies tab above for details. Also, please be careful to use the drop-down menu when choosing your shipping method at checkout!

Return Policy

I take a great deal of time accurately representing each item, and I am certain you will love your purchase from Doozies Vintage! I do, however, understand that sometimes a return is necessary. I’m happy to accept returns under the following terms and conditions:

I accept returns if I have made a significant error in describing an item (please provide pics of any errors found), and will reimburse you the cost of the item; however, I do not accept returns for items that do not fit properly. I measure my garments carefully and trust that you as a responsible buyer know your own measurements. I encourage you to ask any and all questions you might have. If you need additional measurements, photos, sizing or condition information, please let me know; I check my Etsy account frequently and will respond promptly.

Should you wish to return an item, you must contact me within 72 hours of receiving the item, and the item must be posted back to me within 48 hours of receiving a response from me regarding the return.

All returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee. If you prefer, you may choose a Merchandise Credit towards an exchange for another item with no restocking fee. Unused Merchandise Credits expire after 90 days.

Shipping fees are non-refundable, unless I have made a significant error in my description. If a significant error has been made, I will reimburse you the cost of return shipping (not to exceed the initial cost of shipping).

International buyers: Any customs duties or taxes incurred by me in order to receive your return will be deducted from the refund due after restocking fee or from the amount of your Merchandise Credit.

Sorry, but I cannot accept returns on As Is or Sale merchandise. Furthermore, items purchased with a discount code are considered to be on sale, and returns will not be accepted.

Shipping and Handling Details

I ship within one to three days of receiving payment, and only charge for the actual cost of shipping; I reimburse all shipping over-charges. Additionally, I’m happy to combine shipping on domestic items (apologies for not being able to extend the courtesy to international bidders). Just ask for details!

Shipping

Now that Etsy has introduced a shipping calculator (YAY!), you'll be able to more easily see your shipping options and compare costs. If you have a question regarding shipping, don't hesitate to send me a message!

Domestic Shipping

Generally speaking, I use priority mail, so that you receive your item as quickly as possible! Please ask in advance of sending payment if other services are desired.

International Shipping

International buyers are most welcome! If possible, i.e. if the item (when packaged) weighs less than 4 lbs., I ship via first class international (the most reasonably priced method); otherwise, the U.S. Post Office requires that priority mail international be used. Note that priority mail international includes tracking, and first class international mail includes tracking to certain countries. If you’d like to know whether your first class international package will include tracking, just send me a message. In addition, please email me your shipping preference prior to sending payment.

Lastly, please note that while I use moth ball products when storing wool, I air out each item for at least a full day prior to packaging. That said, there may be a slight residual odor on wool items, though this will disappear with additional airing.
