THE MARY FRANCES HOUSEKEEPER: ADVENTURES AMONG THE DOLL PEOPLE by JANE EAYRE FRYER. The Cover, Dolls and Silhouettes are by Julia Greene. The Frontispiece and Furniture are by Albert C. Mowitz. Publishers Winston (1914) this is the true First Edition. Size is (7 x 9 1/4"), cloth, pictorial paste-on has rubbing. Wear on all the edges, tips and ends of spine with one corner breaking through. After the first section the book is just starting to come away from the spine and should be repaired at some time so it does not get worse.

The first 5 pages has some book tape on the spine. The Second page appears to be signed by the author, but I believe it is a dedication the author used in her books. The third page has an inscription in ink. The frontispiece is in color, but all the other illustrations are in black and white.

One of the nicest volumes in Fryer's series and the rarest in complete condition. This teaches girls how to grow up to be good little house-keepers, told through the lives of a family of dolls. This copy is COMPLETE WITH ALL FURNITURE AND THE 9 PAPER DOLLS (including Lucinda a Black doll). Someone has traced around Lucinda and her clothing with a pencil. Plans for a house to be built are included also pictures to show how the furniture should be placed.

Presented in the form of a fantasy narrative, all aspects of housekeeping are covered here, from sweeping and dusting to afternoon tea - lovingly told without preaching, and charmingly illustrated. Rare in complete condition.
