Description

Pochoir designed by Jean Burkhalter, circa 1930, in a fanciful, nature-inspired take on the art deco style. Jean Burkhalter (1895 - 1981) was a French decorative artist who excelled in textile design.

This pochoir - which measures 12.25" wide by 15.5" high - is part of a folio of designs titled "Decors et Couleurs," which, translated to English, is "Decors and Colors." Pochoir - French for stencil - is distinguished from ordinary stenciling by its highly refined technique. This piece is Plate 5 ("Planche 5" in the last photo) from the folio.

Within the image area are four separate panes, each one a design based on the stylization of floral & plant motifs.

The print is in good to very good condition with random tiny spots of paint/ink scattered around, mostly not noticeable except under close inspection. However, there is a bit of dark blue pigment just to the right of the top center area of the print. It's visible in the 2nd image above, mainly because it's against the pale background of the top right pane. In my opinion, it doesn't detract dramatically. There is also minor damage to each of the four corners, but I mention that only for the sake of accuracy since it would be covered when the print is matted.

Processing time for this item will be brief; I like to get my orders shipped within 48 hours, typically using Priority Shipping via the USPS.

Also, please note that I DO NOT currently ship outside the United States.
