The Galway was developed in the west of Ireland in the 17th century from English breeds.

You can see the Galway in low land hills of Co. Galway, expecially in the farms east of Galway City. Safe to say where the name came from.

Because she is grazing, the ewe is 4 1\/2" tall. Her head and legs are porcelain, the body a cast stone (1 lb) and the fur is a woven wool from the same source used by Steiff teddy bears.
