Description

Mid Century bowl by Beveridge Nova Scotia

Beautiful mid century bowl by husband and wife Foster & Eleanor Beveridge of Nova Scotia Canada.
The true colour of the bowl is from the first photo you see, more of a purple rather than a blue with dark earth tones.

6 1/4" across with a height of 2 3/4"
In amazing condition, no chips no cracks, just stunning.

Their work is featured at the National Gallery of Canada.

Bottom excerpt taken from the Nova Scotia Obituaries, February 23 2005:

BEVERIDGE, Eleanor Grace "Sandy" - 1920-2005, passed away February 18, 2005, in Mader's Cove. She and her husband, Foster Beveridge, who passed away January 28, of this same year, will be fondly remembered as long established artisans of Nova Scotia. Their work began in 1955, at the Handcraft Centre of Nova Scotia. Eleanor studied in Halifax and the Avoncroft Pottery, Worcester, England with Geoffrery Whiting, a disciple of the renowned Bernard Leach, prior to setting up her own pottery studio in Mahone Bay. Foster and Sandy generously shared their talent and skills for creating beautiful works of art with aspiring and established potters who traveled to their Mader's Cove studio. Over the years, their pottery was accepted for exhibit in the National Gallery of Canada, the Brussels International Ceramics Exhibition and many others. The Beveridge's work can be found in private collections as well as the collections of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design, and the Confederation Centre Gallery and Museum in Charlottetown, P.E.I. In 1996, a collection of their work was exhibited at the Nova Scotia Art Gallery to celebrate the history of ceramics in Nova Scotia. Sandy and Foster deemed this a special honour and reveled in the opportunity of being able to sit and share their work and experiences with students and established artists. They will be sorely missed by family, friends and the Nova Scotia community of artists they so thoroughly enjoyed being a part of. Donations in Sandy's memory may be made to Dalhousie University Medical Research Fund.
