Dimensions

Necklace length: 20 Inches; Pendant height: 2 Inches; Pendant width: 1 1/2 Inches

This gorgeous necklace has a centerpiece of two cabochons, one of a gray dinosaur bone fossil, and one of Mariposite. Mariposite is a mineral which is a chromium-rich variety of mica, which imparts an attractive green color to the generally white dolomite marble in which it is commonly found. It was named for Mariposa, California, though it can be found in several places in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I made a setting out of 24 gauge sterling plate and scalloped silver wire. The hanger was made of coiled half round wire, so that beads could easily pass through it. The sterling silver clasp has a double hook and round loop for its closure for easy installation around the neck. There are a variety of sterling silver spacer beads, and larger textured flat diamond shapes. The wide variety of beads pull out the whites and greens of the Mariposite; and the grays, browns, and fossil theme of the fossilized dinosaur bone. The beads used are India tree agate, pale green Aventurine, Wyoming fossil Turritella agate, Ocean jasper, cultured pearls, Swarovski crystal, and Czech and China glass. The piece is 20 inches in length, with the pendant centerpiece measuring 2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide. The available earrings incorporate the tree agate, sterling silver, and Swarovski crystal, with a 1 inch length. This will go well with a variety of colors of clothing to bring out the colors in the stones. This is the reason I photograph them with different backgrounds. Sure to become a family favorite!
