A vintage 1952 Royal Quiet De Luxe portable typewriter with a textured gunmetal gray finish and amazing forest green keys! This is a true classic and an earlier model of the Quiet De Luxe was said to be Ernest Hemingway's trusty companion. Sturdy and substantial, this lovely vintage specimen can be your companion for years to come.

The most endearing features of this typewriter are the tiny details: The forest green keys. The classy chrome accents on the face. The little things that make it special! The keyboard on this machine is called a 42 character keyboard which means there is no #1 and the lower case 'L' is used for the #1. The machine measures roughly 12"w by 12"d by 5"h.

The typewriter is in lovely aesthetic condition, with just a few miscellaneous scuffs here and there. There is a bit of white residue on some of the keys, which will come off with some time and elbow grease. None of the keys seem to stick in my testing, and the carriage return seems to glide along without a hitch, letting off an endearing "ding" at the end of each line. This machine could no doubt use a new ribbon as well as a bit of a tune-up by a professional.

The typewriter sits contently in a hardshell case, even snapping into it with a latch at each of the four corners. The camel-colored tweed-like case is sturdy as can be, though it does have many scratches and aesthetic flaws. It is lined in a brick red tone, with a black plastic handle on the exterior and a lock, sans key.

Please note, this machine has not been serviced by me nor examined by a typewriter expert while in my ownership. I give my typewriters a good surface cleaning but essentially sell them as-is, thus am able to offer them for much less than other sites like www.mrtypewriter.com for example, where the machines are restored by professional technicians and examined for any necessary repairs. Feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them.
