This is a tutorial and pattern for my "tabistry" Turkish-style Vest, just like those found at tabistry.blogspot.com! You can make this vest with little to no supply costs using ordinary supplies you may have lying around your home. All that is needed is:

• soda pop and beer can PULL TABS (approximately 700 tabs)
• SCRAP FABRIC, old clothing, or even "plarn" (polar fleece is used in tutorial)

As for tools, you will really only need:

• SCISSORS to cut your strips
• RULER or tape measure if you choose to alter the fit
• GLUE or needle/thread to secure ends (optional)

No previous skills or experience is needed. Follow along as I cover in detail how to make this simple and extremely adjustable vest. You will learn all that is needed to create your vest, including:

• Basics of Tabistry needed
- Preparing Material and Tabs
- Making Staggered Foundation Chain & Scale Pattern
- Shaping with Long and Short Rows
- Tying Off Ends
- Finishing Edges and Adding Trim
- Joining Material Strips

Also included are suggestions for:
• Anatomy and Construction of the vest
• Resizing your vest for a better fit
• Ideas for finishing and embellishing your new vest

PLUS: I've also included illustrated instructions to turn my can tab flower favor pattern into a unique front closure AND a pattern for a simple coordinating belt base that you can use to make a coin of fringe belt to go with your vest.

PLEASE READ
Though this pattern is a "one size fits most", the vest was originally designed for about a medium size. If you're not an average build or your Under Bust (UB) measurement (see illustration image) is not between 24 to 36 inches around, you may need to alter the size to get a good fit. I have included some suggestions on how to successfully attempt these alterations yourself.

You will receive an email from Etsy letting you know your Adobe Acrobat (PDF) file is ready for download. If you do not receive anything within 24 hours, please contact me by Etsy convo or email at mieljolie [!at] yahoo.com.

COPYRIGHT NOTE: My tutorials and patterns are shared for personal use. I prefer that you do not sell products directly from my pattern to make a profit, especially on online stores or auctions. However, please use the skills learned to make your own designs that you are free to sell. And, if you want to see more projects and tutorials like this, please make every effort to give credit for the work.
