Ceramic Sheep Figures, Handmade in the North Carolina studio of Colin's Creatures from Porcelain, a woven alpaca fur and a cast stone body. In the barren mountain region of Connemara, Co. Galway, Ireland the view is unbroken by trees or fences. It is common ground used by all of the farmers for grazing thier sheep. They identify their sheep by a spot of paint somewhere on their back, the colour and location being the key. The breed found in this cold, wind swept area is the Blackface Mountian. In the summer the hills and roads are covered with ewes and lambs just like these although very ragged from the dirt and never ending rain. The Irish Mail Order catalogue Shannon carried the ewe in their final year of business before Waterford went into receivership.

The ewe stands about 5" tall. Their head legs and horns are porcelian and the body a cast stone (about 1 lb). The fur is a woven alpaca from the same german source that Steiff teddy bears uses. They are available seperately if you wish.
