Hand blown & fluted flower shaped glass vase by Dean Wolf of Austin, Texas. The inside of this vase features a layer of white frit swirled within the first gather of glass. After a second gather, the bubble was covered in layers of grape purple frit. A separate gathering of moss green frit covered glass is dropped hot on the bottom and the flower sepals were individually tooled into place. A second bit of green is added and tooled into the foot. The foot has been coldworked and is signed "Wolf Art Glass 2010."

It stands 5" tall and is 7" at its widest point.

-- Working Towards Greener Glassblowing --
While traditionally glassblowing is a highly energy-consumptive art, I am taking steps to minimize the environmental impact of my hot shop. I use a single glory hole for reheating, melting the glass batch, and warming the pipes which bypasses 2 pieces of powered equipment. Without using a furnace, when I am not blowing glass the shop is not using any power resources whatsoever. Each crucible full of glass I blow is charged/melted for less than an hour (hence the small bubbles in my pieces) and not for days as is very common. My hot shop's electricity is powered by the renewable wind energy of my power company's Green Works program. Finally, I ship using recyclable cardboard and Bio-Bubble, a 100% bio-degradable bubble wrap.
