This pair of washboards are icons of an age when most women used a washboard and sink to do laundry. The big Maid-Rite is 13 x 24 inches, appears lightly used, minimal rust, clean and sturdy. Still sporting its True Value Hardware store price tag and shield-and-sun design.

Check out the black and red graphics on the smaller Dubl Handi, with charming images of hosiery and lingerie, and a message that it "packs easily in a suitcase." It's 9 x 18 inches. This one appears brand new.

Washboards are still popularly used by professional musicians as percussion instruments for folksy, rhythm and blues performances.

Both were made by the Columbus Washboard Co., Columbus, Ohio. Peaking at over 1 million washboards made in 1941, today’s washboards are still used for hand scrubbing just like Grandma did. Wonderful as display pieces in your laundry room, cottage or kitchen.
