FEEDBACK COMMENTS:

* I LOVE both products!!! I put the lotion on my hands before bed last night and 20 hours later, my hands are still so soft. I can't wait to try the lotion on my feet tonight! I originally purchased the soap for my 7-month old who has eczema, but I haven't tried it on him, yet. I guess I'll have to share:0) The soap lathers up so well and makes my oily skin feel clean and moisturized, but not greasy. I also have acne and most facial cleansers are either too drying or they leave behind make up and make my face feel greasy. I also shaved my legs with the soap this morning and love the results! Thanks for sharing your products! I'll be back for more!;)

* Marla ROCKS and so do her vegan products!

* This soap is fantastic. I'd been using my roommates for some time before, but that was only available in Africa, so this was the perfect solution for me. Service was quick and cheerful. A great experience. I'll be ordering more!

* Marla is friendly and keeps on top of her business well. The soap is DIVINE...leaves skin feeling really clean but also super soft.

* This SPF moisturizer is great! It is not white or greasy and it sinks right into skin! Thank you!

* love it, my dry elbows have never looked better after only 2 uses.

* makes my skin feel amazing, I think I received extra bars too!!

* THANKS SO MUCH!!!! I love this seller she is on the ball :) Thanks again and I will be back again!!

* (Order sent to Canada) Received my order yesterday, soap was melted together but I was expecting this especially in summer formed 4 of my own bars, used it to wash my hair...amazing results my hair very soft and silky, will buy again.

* Marla is the best!!!

* in the nick of time ready for my backpacking trip! Thanks, Joanna

Although the consistency is very liquid-like, it foams up very nicely. I have Rosacea and Keratosis pilaris (rough inflamed hair follicles that get clogged) and sensitive skin. It's usually impossible for me to find a good cleanser. I don't know how well it takes off makeup, i use an oil cleaner before this for that purpose, but it's super gentle and my skin feels very clean afterwards, but not stripped of moisture. I like how it has no fragrance. I've bought a few commercial black soaps from
Big companies and they all have "tea tree" or "eucalyptus" scents and it aggravated my skin. This stuff is awesome, they seller is very kind and works very hard and is passionate about her business and her product. Would highly recommend :)

Which oils can be dangerous?
Below is a list of some of the traditionally accepted contraindicated oils for specific conditions. There is little scientific research to support most of these contraindications.

Pregnancy: Basil, cinnamon, clary sage, cypress, fennel, jasmine, juniper, marjoram, myrrh, origanum, pennyroyal, peppermint, rose, rosemary, sage, savory and thyme

Breastfeeding: Mint, parsley, sage and jasmine (research has shown that jasmine inhibits milk production in lactating mothers)

High blood pressure: Cypress, eucalyptus, ginger, rose, rosemary, sage and thyme

Low blood pressure: Clary sage, garlic, lavender, lemon, marjoram and ylang-ylang

Epilepsy: Fennel, hyssop, rosemary, sage and wormwood

Care when using machinery or driving Clary sage and vertivert

Care if drinking alcohol Clary sage

WARNING: Please be careful when using the African Black Soap with melted in African Shea Butter in the SHOWER or TUB - When I wash my feet I rinse them right off and there is no problem but if you don't rinse your feet it could get slippery, so RINSE your feet after washing your feet! It's the Shea Butter that makes it a bit slippery, but I haven't had a problem b/c I ALWAYS RINSE my feet after.

Our African Black Soap can be used for washing your dogs or cats too. They come out clean and the soap rinses out fast and squeaky clean and smelling wonderful. Doesn't strip your dog's tender skin. I even use the Shea Butter on Hot Spots. One of my dog's has allergies and he starts itching - I put on my itch relief and let that dry then put on a dab of Shea Butter and in no time at all he starts healing. Wonderful! Plus, my dogs never have fleas and I attribute it to the African Black Soap (the fleas don't like it!)

*A Brief summary of Organic African Black Soap: This is the type of Black Soap intended for use on sensitive skin and hair. African Black Soap - Traditionally made in Ghana, West Africa (this kind is also made in Nigeria, West Africa) Totally organic, this black soap is the REAL thing! The major difference between this and the some other Black Soaps is that it does not contain fragrance, which some skin types are sensitive to. Black Soap is also known as Anago Soap or Alata Soap in Ghana, and as Ose Dudu in Nigeria. Our Black Soap is made from roasted cocoa (chocolate) pods, plantain skins ashes mixed with palm oil. Black Soap is especially recommended for the very young and the elderly, or anyone with tender skin. It leaves the skin smooth and soft. We have added the moisturizing pure African shea butter. Raw Black Soap is prized for its quality antiseptic properties and for its gentleness on the skin and hair.

Active ingredients in Organic African Black Soap:

Water, cocoa pod ashes, plantain skins ashes, and palm oil.

Benefits of Organic African Black Soap:

Traditional African Black Soap is centuries old, has numerous benefits and is not scented. For centuries, Africans have used Black Soap to help relieve acne, oily skin, clear blemishes and various other skin issues. Many swear by it for skin irritations and conditions such as eczema and psoriasis as well. African Black soap has also been used to achieve quality beautiful skin. Africans have also used this natural soap for bathing and washing their hair. It's excellent for removing make-up too! Black Soap will leave your skin silky soft and clear. African people also use Black Soap to rid the skin of rashes, ring worm, measles, and body odors.
It is used as a natural shampoo to avoid dry itchy scalp. Black Soap is so highly thought of, it is also used in African spiritual purifications.

African Black Soap can be used in its natural form for the face, body and hair.

Brief history of Organic African Black Soap:

If you haven't used this soap before, it's a little bit crumbly in nature and softer than most soaps. It has a delicate texture & a natural earthy smell. It is not oily or scented. Black Soap or African Black Soap also known as Anago Soap or Alata soap, originates from West Africa. It has been used for centuries in countries like Ghana and Nigeria. It's methods and secrets have been passed down from generation to generation to keep the soap close to mother nature and avoid exploitation & imitations. This African Black Soap is not the mass produced African Black Soap in boxes all over the market.

African Black Soap comes from plantain skins originally. Plantain is a rich source of vitamins A & E and iron. (plantain is a popular food in Africa & other parts of the world. It looks much like a banana, but it's bigger and longer.) The skin of the plantain is dried to a specific texture under the hot African sun and then roasted in a clay oven. The heat must be kept precisely at a constant temperature in order to achieve a particular color, texture & smell. The roasting of the plantains determines the color of the soap. The longer the plantains are roasted, the darker the soap. Next, the roasted skins of the Plantain are mixed with Palm oil and Palm Kernel oil to form the soap. These oils are in their purest form - without refining - and they make for a HIGHLY nourishing soap! Different African tribes make their own variations of Black Soap, as do separate Countries and their recipes are highly guarded.

Using Organic African Black Soap:

Take your bar-size piece, then press it to shape with your hands, or use it as is. Rub the bar between your hands (or on a washcloth would also work), then rub your soapy hands on your skin and hair. (If you rub the bar on your hair, it will get hair stuck to the bar.) Organic African Black Soap absorbs water easily, so keep it from sitting in water or it will dissolve away. The soap holders covered with little vertical fingers work well (similar pictured above). Because this soap is softer than commercial soap, it comes off the bar more easily, so less rubbing of the bar is needed to release enough soap. When you start another bar, just push the old soap sliver onto the new piece and the two will easily unite; leaving no waste.

Storage of Organic African Black Soap:

Pure traditional Organic African Black Soap is a soft milled soap and has a very high natural glycerin content. As a result, it readily absorbs moisture from the air. It must be stored in a dry location or in a sealed plastic bag or it will become soft as it absorbs moisture. Black soap exposed to the air will have a thin white colored film. This film is not mold, it is caused by absorption of water from the air. This can be avoided by keeping the soap in a dry location away from moisture until ready for use.

Making Organic African Black Soap:

Traditional Black Soap contains mainly water, cocoa pod ashes, plantain skins ashes, and palm oil, cooked together to form soap.

1. Tiny coconuts from the oil palm are stripped of their oily husk.

2. The oil filled husks are packed into a hand press. In the center of the press is a huge threaded shaft.

3. The heavy steel top to the press is put in place.

4. Muscle power forces the orange Palm Oil from the fiber.

5. The same pure Palm Oil is used in cooking and soap making.

6. The Palm Oil is heated to ready it for the soap making.

7. The Cocoa Pod grows directly from the branch. It is packed full of seeds (cocoa beans). When the pods have been emptied, they are burnt to produce Cocoa Pod Ashes.

8. The Cocoa Pod Ashes and/or plantain skins ashes are cooked with water to make them dissolve.

9. The ash water is added to hot Palm Oil.

10. The mixture of Palm Oil and Cocoa Pod Ashes is cooked and stirred. Soap is formed, foaming to the surface.

11. Hot soap is scooped off and placed on a cooling table.

The History and Benefits of Shea Butter:

The Karite tree can live up to 300 years and has been called the "God Send" to the people of Africa. Found in African Savannah, the Karite tree gives up its fruit once a year. This is called the Karite nut. This nut is then boiled and the oil is extracted from it and refined into shea butter. Recently advocated as a cosmetic ingredient, shea butter continues to attract the interest of cosmetic chemist the world over. Shea butter has been known for so long in Europe as a useful product from their colonies and was clinically tested to ascertain its tolerance and therapeutic activity in cutaneous conditions.

Dermatologists approved by the French Ministry of Health used shea butter on 35 people from different age, sex and racial backgrounds for a period of ten days to 5 months. These candidates had all types of skin disorders ranging from dry and wrinkled skin to serious burns and rashes. No one had any negative side effects from the use of shea butter. These cases have all been documented by the French Ministry of Health - Toan Tran, head of the Laboratory Sederma, France.
