Apologies to those with April birthdays, but I'm not going to be making any rosaries of real diamonds. I checked the price of using even tiny gray diamond chips and, well, robbing banks is against my religion.

To compensate, here's something special: a rosary of 8mm Swarovski clear crystal bicones. I've been known to say that the firepolished glass beads I usually use are just as pretty as these Austrian crystals, but after seeing 53 of the crystals sparkling together, I don't think I can say that anymore - not that the others aren't beautiful. I do need to state ("need" as in "legally required") that Swarovski crystals are *lead* crystal. This gives them much of their beauty, but it also means they should not be used by anyone below the age of 13 because of the high lead content.

The crystals are the Ave or "Hail Mary" beads on this rosary. The Pater or "Our Father" beads are elongated "pinched" gold-plated beads with decorative detail. Two sizes of gold-plated spacers fill out the rest of the rosary.

The center and crucifix are both gold plated. The center is a head and shoulders bas relief of Mary in an open wreath style, with a smaller image of the Sacred Heart on the reverse. The crucifix is a version of the papal cross.

The measurement from the bottom of the crucifix to the middle of the rosary is just over 20 inches (51cm). It comes in a quilted fabric pouch with both zip and snap closures, as well as a gold foil box for gift giving.
