Antique J.C. Higgins fishing rod. Included is what some say is one of the best deep sea reels of all time, the Penn 49.

John Higgins was an employee of Sears from 1898 to 1930. His name was used to market sporting goods for Sears starting in 1908 using the now famous "J.C.Higgins" label. Sears used that brand name until 1964. They introduced the "Ted Williams" brand in 1961 and the J.C. Higgins brand shortly started fading away.

This rod and reel is in excellent condition. The reel works perfect, and is ready to fish right now. The rod is a work of art and is simply beautiful. All of the guides are in great shape, and the wraps are in amazingly good condition. The wood used in the handle is incredible.

A great addition to any lake cottage, office, home or boat. This workhorse of a rod and reel is ready for your unique needs. Take it trolling for a marlin, or let it just chill out on the wall and retire.

Very heavy action rod, just over 6 foot long.
