Our signature ergonomic crochet hook design is now available as a hybrid option for smaller crochet hook sizes! This listing is for uncoated handles–meaning the handles are not coated in resin and have more texture and grip to them. Based on feedback from our customers, this is a great option for people whose hands get hot or sweaty when crocheting and smoother hooks may slide around in their hand. Our ergonomic crochet hooks are designed to help minimize hand, wrist & shoulder pain, create more even stitches and allow you to crochet longer.

THE DETAILS:
• This listing is for our uncoated (no resin coating) Heat-Reactive Color Changing (Orange to yellow with Body Heat) 3D printed ergonomic hybrid crochet hooks shown
• These hooks are made using a super cool 3D printer filament that is heat reactive! They start off orange and change to yellow with body heat or hotter air temperatures! If you tend to have cold hands or crochet indoors with the AC blasting, it might be harder to get them to change colors.
• You can choose between Boye brand, generic tapered or inline Susan Bates Hooks
• Hooks are secured into the handles with epoxy glue and are not meant to be removed
• Features a cone base that allows it to stand up on its own
• Lightweight - the 3D printed handle ads very little additional weight to the metal crochet hooks
• Hooks are stamped with the millimeter size on the bottom of the hook

THE PROCESS:
• Each handle takes about 2-3 hours to print
• Hooks are then secured into the handle with epoxy glue
• All Premium Hybrids ($45 ones) are finished with two coats of resin making the handles super smooth!

THE STORY BEHIND THE HOOKS:
This has been an ongoing project for me and my husband since he got a 3D printer for Christmas in 2020! It was inevitable that he would try to make me a 3D printed crochet hook but the patterns on the 3D websites were, well... meh. We knew we could do better! It took LOTS of trial and error, LOTS of broken and half-printed hooks, and about 10 design changes to get to our this first final design. I used 3D modeling software to create and perfect this hook design (something else I got to learn!) to make it strong & ergonomic and my husband has figured out a great process for making sure the actual hooks are nice and smooth by hand-sanding them and then coating the finished hooks with resin. We now offer hybrid handles that are uncoated as a great entry level option to our premium hooks!

We appreciate everyone who has supported and cheered us on though this crazy new venture (my husband was ready to throw a few of these things out the window through the process 😂😂). It has really been an amazing effort on his part to have worked so hard and to have used his new printer for making crochet hooks instead of making things for himself!

We are still learning when it comes to this 3D design process and I am not touting these hooks as "perfect"–as with all handmade things, lots of time, love and effort went into getting these hooks to where they are and I will always see imperfections as the proof that we are not creating a mass produced items. Being hand sanded and coated means that each one will have it's own one-of-a-kind "finish" but to me, that's what makes things like this all the more special!
