Art Nouveau angel wings have come together to form an elegant heart, and this heart is the center of this necklace. You can see that the feathers curve inward, this feature was painted in blues with touches of glitter, to mimic a geode. Then it was coated with layers of jewelry resin to make the colours last. Swarovski crystal rhinestones in the discontinued Light Azore (a light, icey blue), and Clear Crystal (extra sparkly!), surround the heart. A large (18x13mm) Swarovski pear rhinestone adds to the glamour. Matching earrings of 8mm round Light Azore rhinestones and 10x7mm Crystal pears, hang from fishhook ear wires decorated with Swarovski Crystal beads, bead caps and teeny bronze glass rings. Please see the pic with the ruler to determine size - the chain part of the necklace is 24 inches with a bit extra on the free end with a "tail" of brass beads, teeny glass rings, and a Swarovski Crystal bead. The other end holds a small lobster clasp. The photo of the necklace bust does not show the rest of the chain, which is hidden behind - it's a very long chain, and as the clasp fits anywhere in the links, you can adjust it to suit.

Once upon a time, painted Victorian brass pieces like this one were typical of jewelry for the newly arrived working woman. The women of the late 1800s and early 1900s were not able to afford much in the way of silver or gold, but beautiful jewelry came from intricate molds that formed brass and copper into brooches, earrings, buckles, necklaces -- everything you could think of. I paint my pieces in honour of these working women, and the artisans who made such lovely, sculpted designs.

All of the metal pieces are antiqued brass, except for the ear wires, which are niobium, a hypoallergenic metal. I use niobium to protect the delicate skin of your ears, with many people having reactions to brass or copper. I will also add silicone earring backs, as some people like to use them to keep the ear wires in place.

The earrings will be shipped in a Spiral Artworks box, as shown in one photo, with a gold elastic bowtie (suitable for gift giving). The earrings will be individually wrapped in tissue to prevent scratches, before being put into the box. The box then goes into a plastic bag and then into a padded bubble mailer. We ship out the very next day, and can include a gift card if you are sending the earrings as a present to someone special.
