I love the look of trees in winter and early spring. You can see each tree's structure and history without leaves obscuring the view. And I love oak trees.
To create this necklace, I cut the oak tree out of a 1 inch sterling disk with my trusty jewelers saw. I hammered the tree lightly for a rustic texture.
The pendant hangs from 18 inches of sterling silver chain, which is finished with my custom clasp. All connections have been soldered for beauty and security.
I finished the necklace with a nice bright polish that catches the light beautifully.
This is the kind of necklace that you can put on and never want to take off again. It is simple yet evocative, pretty yet symbolic, and it will look good with practically anything!

Here is a bit of info about the symbolism of the oak tree:

In Celtic mythology, it is the tree of doors, believed to be a gateway between worlds, or a place where portals could be erected.

In Norse mythology, the oak was sacred to the thunder god, Thor. Some scholars speculate that this is because the oak, as the largest tree in northern Europe, was the one most often struck by lightning.

In Classical Greek mythology, the oak was a symbol of Zeus and his sacred tree.
