I'm Andrés Ferreira, a producer and composer based in Temecula, California.

In 2021, during the COVID pandemic, I spent my days seated, editing audio and video for multiple clients. I explored various options but was consistently disappointed. I wanted a studio desk that could accommodate real gear, fit a full-size keyboard, and still complement my room’s aesthetic. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create my own desk.

So I designed the one I wanted. I prototyped it here in California through 2021 and 2022, built it, tore it apart, rebuilt it, and in 2023, after multiple demos, the first production run of the CAPITAN shipped. This is the redesigned version.


NO SCREWS INTO THE WOOD. NONE.
This is the part most people don't notice until they've assembled it.

The CAPITAN goes together with cam locks and wooden plugs, the same joinery approach used in real cabinetry. Nothing is drilled into the face of the wood. There is no adhesive anywhere in the structure. There are no screw heads looking back at you from the desktop.

Three things follow from that:
The wood stays intact. Screws driven into Baltic Birch eventually loosen and widen their own holes as the desk gets loaded and moved. Cam locks pull against a fitted cam post instead, so the joint tightens rather than wallows out.

It comes apart as cleanly as it went together. If you move studios, and you will, the CAPITAN flat-packs again. It does not become a desk you have to decide whether to abandon.

The surfaces stay clean. The wooden plugs cover every hardware access point, flush with the grain. What you see is birch, not fasteners.


9U OF RACK, RAILS INCLUDED
Nine rack units built into the desk body. Every rail is included, you are not buying a rack separately, and you are not building one. Preamps, interface, power conditioner, monitor controller: all of it lives inside the desk, ventilated and within reach.


THE 88-KEY TRAY
A 56-inch sliding tray at 24.5 inches from the floor. It pulls out 16 inches to play and tucks back to clear the room. It fits most full-size 88-key instruments, Nord Stage, Yamaha P-series, Roland FP and RD, Kawai ES, Casio PX. Not sure about yours? Message me with the model before you order. CABLE MANAGEMENT
Four hooks along the upper and lower laterals. Power, USB, XLR and audio route along the frame instead of pooling behind the desk. Accessories included.


MATERIALS AND FINISH
Premium Baltic Birch throughout. Every part is treated with a high-quality resin that brings out the grain and makes the surface water-resistant, spills wipe up instead of soaking in. For the first 30 days, use coasters while the
finish fully cures. After that, it handles normal studio life.

Flat-packed and shipped free via ground service anywhere in the continental US. No freight appointment, no loading dock, no liftgate, the boxes are delivered straight to your door, with tracking on each one.

Your CAPITAN ships in 3 boxes:
Box 1: 64" x 34" x 3" - 66 lb
Box 2: 43" x 40" x 3" - 55 lb
Box 3: 64" x 19" x 4" - 55 lb

Two things worth knowing before they land. The boxes travel independently, so they often arrive on different days, if two show up and the third hasn't yet, it's on its way, and your tracking will show it. And the longest box is over five feet, so check your doorway, hallway and stairs if you're in an apartment or a walk-up.

When they arrive, take a quick photo of each box before you open it. If anything got knocked around in transit, that photo is all I need to make it right immediately.


ASSEMBLY
Plan on 60 to 90 minutes. One person can do this, I've built plenty of them on my own. The single moment where a second set of hands helps is seating the main top panel, so if you're working solo, build on the floor rather than trying to hold weight at height, and take that step slowly.

Clear printed instructions are included, and so is the screwdriver. It's the only tool you need.
