I always loved making little birds nests when I was playing in the woods as a child. I would use grass, mud, weeds, and whatever I came across and put little "birds nests" in trees and bushes. I suppose I haven't changed much, because I was at the beach and noticed the roots of the invasive European Beach Grass exposed at the edge of a sand dune. I tried twirling it around, and found that I had made a lovely little birds nest and done some invasive plant species control while I was at it.

I made several of these little nests ranging between 3 and 5" in diamter with lichens and mosses and wet felted wool eggs secured in place with craft glue. An excellent spring decoration or seasons table centerpiece.
