Authentic vintage Girl Scouts USA embroidered patch, part of the Contemporary Issues Program launched in 1988. This oval patch, “Girls Are Great,” accompanied the Growing Up Female booklet and was earned by Scouts who completed program activities.

The Contemporary Issues series tackled important social topics for older girls, including self-esteem, drug prevention, science and technology, and more. These patches are now collectible pieces of Girl Scout history and were not always available in every council shop.
