⚙️ Printing & materials recommendations

Best filament for lithophane: translucent/white PLA or PETG for even light diffusion.

Lithophane layer height: 0.08–0.16 mm for excellent tonal range (smaller = better detail).

Stand & adapter: PETG or PLA; PETG recommended if you want extra heat/resistance.

Infill: Lithophane disk — 100% solid back layer or use a thicker backwall (the lithophane face is the thin, variable section). Stand/adapter — 10–30% (increase for heavier/large sizes).

Walls / perimeters: 2–4 perimeters for the disk; 3–5 for the stand/adapter for sturdiness.

Orientation & supports: Lithophanes often print best with the textured face vertical or facing the nozzle depending on design — see included README for recommended orientation to minimize supports. Stand and adapter are optimized to print with minimal or no supports in the suggested orientation.

Recommended printer settings: moderate speeds (30–50 mm/s), good cooling for PLA, and a stable bed adhesion (brim if needed).

💡 Lighting & assembly tips

Use LED bulbs only (E12 LED bulbs recommended). LEDs run cool and preserve printed parts. Avoid incandescent or halogen bulbs that generate high heat.

The E12 adapter part is sized to fit common candelabra sockets — secure the lamp kit per the kit instructions. If you are not comfortable working with mains wiring, seek a qualified electrician to install the socket and wiring.

Add a thin diffuser (frosted acrylic or white PETG disc) behind the lithophane to smooth hotspots and create a softer glow.

For a very authentic moon look, print the lithophane in white or off-white filament and paint the stand in a complementary color. Metallic dry-brushing can add subtle highlights.

Electrical safety: This file includes an adapter geometry for E12 sockets; it does not include wiring instructions. If you plan to install a mains-powered socket, follow local electrical codes and use certified lamp hardware. I recommend using low-wattage LED bulbs and professional installation for mains operation.

Cleaning: Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid high-temperature cleaning on PLA prints. PETG tolerates higher temps.

Food safety: Not relevant — this is a decorative lamp component.
