Seller's description

Specifications

May include: A small, vintage-style teddy bear with worn, cream-colored fur, dark brown bead eyes, and a stitched nose. The bear features articulated limbs, rounded ears, and a textured, aged appearance throughout its entire body structure.

A charming miniature Steiff teddy bear dating to around the late 1920s to early 1930s. At just 14 cm tall, he has the wonderful proportions and character of an early Steiff bear in a particularly collectible small size.

Made in pale mohair with glass eyes, embroidered nose and mouth and fully jointed construction. The mohair has naturally thinned considerably with age, revealing the underlying fabric across the muzzle, ears, limbs and body and giving him a wonderfully time-worn appearance.

Maker: Steiff
Origin: Germany
Era: Circa late 1920s–early 1930s
Material: Mohair
Stuffing: Wood wool
Eyes: Glass
Features: Embroidered nose and mouth
Construction: Fully jointed head, arms and legs
Height: 14 cm (5.5")

Condition

Good antique condition with considerable age-related wear. The original mohair is worn and thin in numerous areas, with the underlying fabric visible particularly on the muzzle, ears, arms, paws and body. The paw pads show wear and age, and the embroidered facial features have softened over time.

The glass eyes are present and the bear retains a wonderfully expressive face. Please inspect all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.
