This pair of metal bookends was made by Nuarts Creations of NY. I do not know the age, but the company was in business in the 1920s and 1930s and produced many metal art deco pieces.

These metal bookends are heavy and have faux bronze painted surfaces. I believe the dogs are Pekinese, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Tibetan Spaniels, or they could be Japanese Chin dogs. There are a few minor spots of missing finish, mostly on the cheeks of one dog, but the other dog has a small spot of one cheek, and a very small place on the ear, where there is a bit of wear. They are in very nice condition with the exception of the minor wear. The dog has a soft gold color finish, and the pedestal and back are a rich copper chocolate color. Both bookends have the original green felted cardboard on the underside, and are marked Nuarts on the back. The size is 5" high and 4 1/4" wide.
