Support-free STL for D20 Handbag to 3D print it yourself

⚅This is our Modular D20 Handbag, a fully 3D printable, wearable D20 that opens along the top five triangle panels and stays closed while in transit via built-in magnets.

⚅The core of the interior features a central phone slot sized for larger phones, including cases and pop sockets, so your main device has a secure place that is easily accessible. For general storage, we currently have created two sets of organizer inserts (divided or open concept) to help keep your items tidy. These inserts sit inside the shell on either side of the phone slot and we plan to add more modular variations in the future as we spend more time with the design.

⚅The D20 panels stay closed using round magnets, so the bag feels secure when you are travelling with it. For strap and connection points, we found that 25mm O rings work best for the joinery.

⚅This model is designed to work on standard 220 x 220 mm build plates and still fit most large-sized phones. It prints without supports and works in PLA or PETG, with PETG recommended for increased durability.

⚅For the shoulder strap, you can either reuse an existing strap or 3D print one any long chain. We have had good success with the chain at this link, scaled up:

The 150 link chain upscaled to 145 percent worked very well for us as a shoulder strap although you may want to remove a few links to your preferred length.

Hardware required
To complete the physical bag you will need:

~4 x 25 mm O rings (attached to the base and clasp)
~7 x 25 mm O rings or short chain equivalent to connect rear O ring fasteners (Not needed if a long chain is used and doubled through the O ring fasteners)
~10 x 6 x 2 mm round magnets

Shoulder strap: You can use a bought strap or a 3D printed chain like the one linked above

Printing notes
This model is designed for FDM printing with no supports necessary.

General FDM recommendations:

~Printer type: FDM
~Build volume: fits on standard 220 x 220 mm build plates
~Material: PLA or PETG
~PETG is recommended for increased durability and flexibility in a real world bag
~Nozzle size: 0.4 mm
~Layer height: around 0.2 mm
~Infill: 15 to 25 percent gyroid or your preferred pattern
~Walls and top bottom thickness can follow your usual functional print settings

If you're not printing this purse in full-colour, we recommend at least applying a "fuzzy skin" texture to the panel faces in your slicer (0.3 mm fuzzy skin point distance and 0.1 mm fuzzy skin thickness)

Pieces are split so they can be laid out to fit a standard bed. Print the shell pieces, hinges, and inserts flat as arranged in the provided files.

Assembly overview
⚅Install the 3D printed hinges into the designated hinge channels on the D20 base then snap the hinges onto the corresponding five triangle panels. For correct placement of numbers, ensure that opposite sides of the D20 will add to 21 with the face you're attempting to add. Or place the numbers however you want, it's your D20. :)

⚅Install ten 6 x 2 mm round magnets into the magnet pockets around the opening so the top stays closed when you lift the bag. Ensure you alternate polarity of the magnets.

⚅Use four 25 mm O rings for joinery at the strap connection points and the one triangle panel with the front clasp.

⚅Daisy chain + shoulder strap:

~Connect rear O ring fasteners with a 7-linked daisy chain of O rings or similar chain
~Attach your chosen shoulder strap to the front O ring and in the middle of your daisy chain in the rear.
~Long 3D printed chain (or equivalent)
~Connect your long chain to the front O ring
~Thread the chain through the back two O rings
~Connect the other end of the chain back to the front O ring creating a doubled over shoulder strap that connects all through O ring fasteners
~Drop in your preferred interior insert
